INTER WINLESS RUN EXTENDS TO FOUR

Italian champions Inter Milan are going through a mini-crisis at the moment after failing to win any of their last four games in the Italian Serie A. Their winless run was extended to four games after playing out a goalless draw with relegation-threatened Genoa away from home when the two teams met on Friday. The Inter Milan players could not find a way past their hosts who gained a valuable point in their quest to escape demotion to the Italian Serie B this season.

Inter Milan were at the top of the Italian Serie A table before the current poor run began. The poor run started with the 2-1 comeback home defeat to city and title rivals AC Milan. Ivan Perisic had the given Inter Milan the lead in the first half and the Croatian international was on course to be the matchwinner before Frenchman Olivier Giroud took it from him with a quick-fire brace to turn the game in favour of his AC Milan side. Since suffering that setback against the Rossoneri, Inter Milan have not recovered.

The good thing for Inter Milan is that title rivals Napoli and AC Milan have not been able to take serious advantage. To this effect, Inter Milan still have their Serie A title destiny in their hands as they bid to win it for the second time in a row. They are just two points adrift of AC Milan with a game in hand despite winning none of their last four league matches, while Napoli are one point behind having played the same number of games.

On their part, AC Milan were forced to a 1-1 draw at home to Udinese for their second successive league draw. They missed out on going four points clear of AC Milan. Napoli can move level with AC Milan at the summit if they beat capital club Lazio on Sunday.
